Licensed Products and Promotional Materials
Licensed products follow a distinct process outlined by the Department of Licensing and the Collegiate Licensing Company
Licensed Products
To protect university trademarks, the University of Mississippi Department of Licensing partners with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to manage and oversee the use of all university trademarks included on materials sold to the general public.
As such, the Department of Licensing and CLC maintain a list of vendors who are licensed to apply university trademarks to products sold to the general public. The licensing program also includes vendors who create promotional items, apparel, and clothing (among other items) for campus departments and organizations.
Purchasing Promotional Items
Any department, campus employee or Registered Student Organization (RSO) wishing to purchase promotional items that would include a university trademark such as clothing, drinkware, toys, games, collectibles, personal accessories, etc., must purchase that product from a university licensee. Please visit the Department of Licensing website to view the list of university licensees as well as their specialties.
Once you have identified a licensee to create your promotional item, you should submit your artwork for brand review. Once the approved artwork is received by the licensee, vendors are trained about how to receive approval from the Department of Licensing and CLC using the steps below.
The Licensing Process
1. Share the Brand Approved Artwork with the Licensee
Note that the licensee may require specific sizes. It's important to have a conversation with the licensee before creating your artwork so that you understand the needs ahead of time.
2. The Licensee will share the artwork in Brand360 tool.
This is the tool utilized by Licensing and CLC to review artwork.
3. Department of Licensing will review artwork in Brand36o tool.
Department of Licensing personnel will approve, decline, or request edits to artwork upon reviewing within Brand360 platform
4. Once approved, Licensee will move forward with creation of the the product.
