What is the Magnolia Federal Work Study Program?
The Magnolia Federal Work Study Program is a new student program created in the Division of Access, Opportunity, and Community Engagement. Undergraduate students who are qualify for Federal Work Study and want to work an on-campus job are invited to join our program. In addition to help finding an on-campus job, Magnolia students will also enjoy monthly development meetings where they share a meal together and learn about helpful resources in workshops led by campus and community leaders.
Working an on-campus job is a central component of participation in the Magnolia Federal Work Study Program. Magnolia staff will connect you with campus departments interested in hiring work-study students based on your skills, interests, and availability. Remember, you must qualify for the Federal Work Study in order to participate in the Magnolia Federal Work Study Program. Students working on-campus in Federal Work Study paid positions can make up to $12 per hour depending on departmental budget, with most students working on average between 8-12 hours per week. This is an average estimation of weekly hours, with the final decision being made between you and your site supervisor.
Federal Work Study is not an automatic scholarship award. Rather, the amount you see in your Financial Aid and Scholarship package shows the total amount of funds you can earn by the end of the academic year after working an on-campus job that pays you with Federal Work Study funds.
