OXFORD, Miss. – Bringing nearly a decade of experience in economic development and community engagement, J.R. Love has been named assistant director of the University of Mississippi's Office of Economic Development and Insight Park.

"I'm excited to take on this new role and build upon the strong foundation of economic and community initiatives already in place at the university," Love said. "I plan to further strengthen partnerships and drive innovative solutions that create meaningful impact throughout Mississippi."

The mission of Insight Park is to provide a dynamic research park where businesses can take advantage of opportunities such as collaborative research and academic resources. The park welcomes companies seeking to commercialize Ole Miss research and collaborate with the university to maximize their business through its resources.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Love join our team," said William Nicholas, director of economic development and Insight Park. "He's a familiar face to the university, and his expertise will be invaluable as we continue to support and promote economic development across the state.

"Our university is deeply committed to driving innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth throughout the state."

This commitment includes supporting the development of a 21st century workforce, fostering partnerships with the private sector and coordinating closely with local, state and federal economic development organizations, Nicholas said.

A Glen Allan native, Love holds degrees from Mississippi State University, Delta State University and Kansas State University.

Since 2015, he has worked with the Grisham-McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement in leading the Catalyzing Entrepreneurship and Economic Development initiative. He also assisted with the institute's M Partner program in Lexington, Charleston, New Albany, Pontotoc and Ecru.

"Dr. Love has a passion for serving others and bringing opportunities to his community," said Ryan Miller, chief executive officer of the Oxford-Lafayette Economic Development Foundation. "The university is fortunate to have his insight, wisdom and servant heart."
