School of Pharmacy Announces Operation Immunization Dates
Flu shots available to faculty, staff and students
OXFORD, Miss. – With flu season on the way, the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy has announced dates and locations for this year's Operation Immunization flu vaccine initiative.
The campuswide initiative to offer flu vaccines to Ole Miss students, faculty and staff is coordinated by the UM chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists.
"I've taken on the Operation Immunization chair position this year because of my passion for patient care and my desire to enhance my skills in this area," said Lindsey Poirot, a second-year professional student from New Athens, Illinois.
"This role is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the patient outcomes of our peers on campus. I'm also excited to help connect APhA-ASP members to meaningful volunteer opportunities on campus and watch our student pharmacists grow their patient care skills."
Dates and locations for this year's Operation Immunization are:
- Sept. 17, 1-4 p.m. – Thad Cochran Research Center atrium
- Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – South Oxford Center
- Sept. 25, 2-4 p.m. – Business Row (Galtney-Lott Plaza)
- Oct. 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – the Circle
- Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Grove stage
- Oct. 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Grove stage
Those who wish to receive the vaccine should bring their Ole Miss ID and prescription insurance card. While most insurance plans cover the flu shot, the price without insurance is $40.
For those without insurance or whose insurance does not cover the full amount, the remaining balance will be charged to their bursar account.
