OXFORD, Miss. – Anthony "Tony" Cambas, statewide manager of international trade for the Mississippi Small Business Development Center Network, was recognized as the organization's 2025 State Star during the America's SBDC national training event in September in Orlando.

Cambas, who is based at the Mississippi SBDC Network's RISE Center at Ole Miss and also serves as an adjunct instructor of management at the University of Mississippi, received the award for his contributions to small business clients and the statewide network.

"This honor reflects the hard work and success of our clients as much as it does my own," he said. "Helping Mississippi companies compete globally is my passion, and I'm grateful to be part of a team that empowers entrepreneurs to expand their reach."

The State Star award is presented annually to individuals who demonstrate exemplary performance, make a significant contribution to their state program and are dedicated to the center's mission of helping small businesses succeed.

Cambas' recognition was well deserved, said Chip Templeton, director of the RISE Center.

"Tony is a tireless advocate for Mississippi businesses that want to grow through exporting," Templeton said. "His knowledge of international trade, combined with his ability to connect with clients, has made a measurable impact across the state."

Since 1981, the Mississippi SBDC Network has served entrepreneurs and small business owners across the state. Through nine regional centers and a central hub in Oxford, the center's business counselors offer free, confidential one-on-one counseling, technical support and workshops.

"Tony has elevated our international trade services to a new level," said Sharon Nichols, the network's state director. "He has helped open doors for businesses that might not otherwise have considered exporting, and he has strengthened the Mississippi SBDC Network's reputation as a resource for innovation and global competitiveness."
