OXFORD, Miss. – The university’s commitment to the thoughtful development of our campus includes investing in new construction, as well as the strategic repurposing of existing structures and areas to ensure the campus evolves in ways that support academic excellence and an exceptional student experience.

Here’s a roundup of some upcoming and ongoing campus improvements and projects:

  • Tad Smith Coliseum: The university has issued a request for design services for the site’s demolition, tentatively scheduled for summer 2026. Plans for the site include new surface parking areas while the university determines future building needs. Mark your calendars for Nov. 14, when Ole Miss Men’s Basketball will host a special Throwback Game at the Tad Smith Coliseum, celebrating the history of the “Tad Pad.”
  • New Parking Structure: Construction is underway on a 1,379-space parking garage in the northwest portion of campus. The project is scheduled to be completed late fall 2026.
  • Student Housing: By partnering with housing leader Greystar, the university will expand on-campus student housing in two areas: the site that previously housed Kincannon Hall and on West Row across from the law school. Around 1,280 beds at the Kincannon Hall site are scheduled to come online for fall 2027.
  • Rebel Market Expansion: Rebel Market in Johnson Commons West will undergo an expansion in 2026, which will provide additional food service and dining accommodations for our campus.
  • Early Learning and Evaluation Center: Construction has begun on a new center dedicated to catching learning disabilities sooner and expanding educational resources in north Mississippi. Located at the South Oxford Center and scheduled for completion in fall 2027, the Early Learning and Evaluation Center will house the Willie Price Lab School and allow more children to receive developmental and auditory evaluations.

Top: The Early Learning and Evaluation Center at the university's South Oxford Center will include two playgrounds and 10 classrooms, increasing the number of children the university can enroll in the Willie Price Lab School and providing evaluation services that increase opportunities for early intervention services in the state. Willie Price is a nationally accredited preschool operated by the School of Education.
