The University of Mississippi has landed among the top 15 universities nationwide for social media engagement, solidifying its reputation as a leader in digital storytelling across higher education.

The 2025 Rival IQ Higher Education Social Media Engagement Report ranked Ole Miss No. 3 in the SEC and No. 12 in the nation. The report analyzed 667 Division I and II institutions, measuring engagement rates, posting frequency and audience interaction.

“Social media has become essential to how we communicate the Ole Miss experience,” said Webb Lewis, assistant director of marketing and brand strategy. “It’s where our stories come to life, from the Grove to the classroom, and where our audience connects with what makes this place special.

"This recognition reflects the creativity, passion and teamwork of everyone involved in sharing the spirit of Ole Miss with the world.”

As social media continues to play a key role in student recruitment, brand building and community engagement, Ole Miss continues to stand out for its authentic, people-driven approach.

A big part of that success comes from the Ole Miss Social Media Ambassador program, a student-led initiative managed by University Marketing and Communications that gives students hands-on experience creating content for the university’s official social media platforms.

“Our social media ambassadors are the heart of our storytelling,” said Madeline Crowe, marketing specialist. “They are our boots on the ground, the ones living the Ole Miss experience every day. Their voices and perspectives keep our content authentic, real and true to what life at Ole Miss is all about.”
