Flu Shots Return With Operation Immunization

Dates and locations for the immunization drive are:

• Sept. 23, 1-3 p.m. – Business Row (Galtney-Lott Plaza)
• Sept. 1, Noon-4 p.m. – Grove stage
• Oct. 8, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. – the Circle
• Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. – Student Union

The annual event, coordinated by the Ole Miss chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Students Pharmacists, provides pharmacy students with hands-on experience while promoting community health.

"Each year, our student pharmacists work closely with the Student and Employee Health Pharmacy to offer flu shots at various locations across campus," said Kristen Pate, associate dean for student affairs in the School of Pharmacy.

"Their dedication to making flu shots accessible for students, faculty and staff reflects their commitment to the health and well-being of our university community and demonstrates how students can make a meaningful impact through service."

Sarah Fath, a second-year pharmacy student from New Orleans, serves as chair of the project.

"It allows us to practice patient care skills while advocating for the importance of flu vaccination ahead of the upcoming flu season," Fath said. "Through this initiative, we aim to promote a healthier, happier Oxford and Ole Miss community."

Anyone who wishes to receive the vaccine should bring their Ole Miss ID and prescription insurance card. While most insurance plans cover the flu shot, the price without insurance is $40.

For those without insurance or whose insurance does not cover the full amount, the remaining balance will be charged to their Bursar account.
