OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi Museum has unveiled its annual holiday keepsake, featuring two beloved campus football landmarks.

"This year's design celebrates two of the most iconic symbols of Ole Miss tradition and pride – the Walk of Champions and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium – by highlighting their deep historical roots and their lasting impact on the university community," said Campbell Sandlin, the museum's coordinator of membership and communications.

The two sites highlighted on this year's keepsake have long and storied histories on campus. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was named after Judge William Hemingway, a professor of law and former chairman of the athletics board, and John Howard Vaught, the legendary former head football coach who led the Rebels to national championships in 1959, 1960 and 1962.

In 1915, Ole Miss students assisted in building the original grandstand at the site of the present football field, with numerous renovations taking place throughout the years. The stadium's capacity has grown from 24,000 to its current seating capacity of 64,038.

The Walk of Champions began in 1985, when head coach Billy Brewer led the football players from Kinard Hall through the Grove to the stadium as a way to help motivate the team. This staple of fall Saturdays before games in Oxford has continued a 40-year tradition of excitement, energy and passion.

The iconic arch at the start of the path has become a popular spot for pictures of a child's first game or students beginning and ending their journeys at UM.

The museum has previously featured both locations on separate ornaments, but this year marks the first time they appear together on a single keepsake. Sandlin said this is a fitting tribute as the Rebels prepare for postseason play.

"The Walk of Champions and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium were two of our top sellers, and pairing them this year felt like the perfect way to celebrate this football season," she said.

Each commemorative ornament is $35 and can be purchased in the museum store or by phone at 662-915-7073. Shipping within the continental U.S. is $10. The last day to order for Christmas delivery is Dec. 19.
