Memorial Day Message from Chancellor Boyce 2025

Seal Stating University of Mississippi 1848

Each Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who have selflessly given their lives for our nation.

These brave individuals gave everything to protect the freedoms and liberties that we hold dear. Their courage and dedication in making the ultimate sacrifice ensures that we can continue to enjoy the many blessings of calling the United States home.

We are thankful to our entire military community – those who actively serve, our veterans, and their families and loved ones. With more than 2,200 military-connected students at the University of Mississippi, we are especially mindful of the profound impact military service has on our campus community, as well.

At 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, one minute of silence is observed as a National Moment of Remembrance. We encourage you to participate in honoring our fallen heroes. To all those who have lost a loved one who died in service to our nation, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
