Biography
Ellen Kellum is a graphic designer and has been an adjunct instructor of media design at the School of Journalism and New Media since 2014 teaching Creative Visual Thinking. She has worked extensively as a muralist and scenic artist for regional theaters, opera and ballet companies around the country and has been the art director for an international B2B publication and the graphic designer for a global humanitarian faith-centered organization and created website re-designs for other non-profit entities.
In addition to teaching media design at UM School of Journalism and New Media, she has served as the editor and art director for the school’s magazine, The Review, which highlighted the accomplishments of the school’s esteemed alumni, as well as the outstanding faculty and students. She serves as the Marketing Advisor to the TEDx organization on campus and works with the team of students that create the annual event of curated Talks to spark conversation in our community about technology, entertainment and design.
A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Kellum received her B.F.A. in Theatre from Texas Christian University. She has since lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Houston and in New York City, where she worked for Lincoln Center and various Broadway productions. She earned her master’s degree in journalism with an art emphasis from the University of Mississippi.
