Associate Professor of Finance
Biography
Dr. M. Mark Walker is an associate professor of finance at the University of Mississippi. His primary teaching and research interests include corporate finance, investments, and business valuation. He currently teaches a course on financial statement analysis.
He earned a B.S.C.E degree from North Carolina State University, an M.B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. He holds two professional designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Business Appraiser (CBA; inactive status December 2022). He is a member of the CFA Institute, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), the National Association of Forensic Economics (NAFE), and the National Business Valuation Group, LLC.
Dr. Walker has published numerous articles in academic and practitioner journals including Financial Management, The Financial Review, Applied Financial Economics, The Financial Services Review, The Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, Business Appraisal Practice, Valuation Strategies, and The Value Examiner.
Dr. Walker serves as a financial consultant in two primary areas: 1) the valuation of small businesses and closely held corporations, and 2) the estimation of economic damages.
