David Rutherford focuses on research and teaching in geography, with an emphasis on rapid changes in the environment, economy, and society. This expertise provides essential insights for future leaders and policymakers.

Research Interests

Tremendous tensions exists in the contemporary world because, in large measure, the ways that have worked in the past are not working so well any longer. Change is occurring rapidly in the environment, in the economy, and in all manners of society more broadly. The focus of David’s teaching and research is on these major dynamics in the contemporary world, which a person who desires to formulate policy or be a leader needs to know about.

Biography

David's undergraduate and Masters degrees are in geography, and he earned his Ph.D. in geography/geographic education from Texas State University. His broad background in research and teaching in geography covers physical, human, regional, techniques, and educational components of the discipline and the world in which we live.
