Our transfer students are dedicated, hardworking, and excited to be UM students.

Why should I transfer to the University of Mississippi?

Transferring to Ole Miss will be one of the most important decisions of your life. Your academic future is important to us. So we'll make sure your transition to campus is as smooth as possible and we'll help you find your path to success once you're here.

Not convinced, yet? Here are five reasons you should transfer to UM:

  1. If you join us from a Mississippi community or junior college, your coursework already aligns with our bachelor’s requirements. In other words, you'll finish your degree on time without having to retake key courses.
  2. Junior- and senior-year classes at Ole Miss average 20 to 30 students, which means you won't feel like a number or get lost in the crowd. You'll get to know your classmates in small, group settings, and you'll get one-on-one instruction from your professors. To top it all off? Professors will also direct you to career-building opportunities outside the classroom.
  3. Our Oxford campus and the surrounding community offer something for everyone. Once you're in Oxford, you get to enjoy a strong local music and food scene, Greek life, literary history, Ole Miss Athletics, and so much more. And just in case transferring feels overwhelming, our Transfer Leadership Organization offers programming and services to help you find your place on campus. For more information, check us out on The Forum or follow us on Instagram!
  4. The University of Mississippi wants to acknowledge your achievements and show our commitment to providing a quality, affordable education. That's why transfer students are eligible for grants and loans. If your transferring from a community or junior college we also have unique scholarships available.
  5. Last but not least. UM knows that transfer students have valuable life experiences to bring to the classroom. That's why we offer a straightforward transfer credit evaluation that applies your hard work toward your degree and overall GPA. We'll also consider any military service, CLEP exams, and AP and IB courses.
