What were some of your favorite memories at UM?

A favorite academic memory was studying political science during the Obama/McCain presidential
election. It was a historical moment of great significance for our country. UM hosting their debate at
the Ford Center was certainly a highlight of my time there, although I was not able to attend. My
favorite class was Dr. Chuck Smith's course on the Supreme Court and justices. My least favorite
class was Dr. Smith's statistics class! :) Outside of the classroom, sorority rush, Chancellor's
leadership class, and the strong restaurant scene in Oxford are among my best memories!

What is the value of your liberal arts degree for your career and life?

My time at Ole Miss undoubtedly influenced the person I am today, professionally and personally. The
friendships formed, horizons expanded, challenges faced while there have been deeply impactful on
my life. I know that I learned more outside of the classroom than I did inside of it. Today, I still have a
passion for politics and policy that my studies influenced. That passion coupled with my roots in
small-town Mississippi goes handily with my career- we build infrastructure to provide broadband
internet service to the hardest to reach parts of rural America. I know the value of expanding
horizons, of being introduced to a whole new world like I was when I went to Oxford as a young
freshman from Jasper County. I believe that access to the internet can be a bridge to the world for
rural Americans and that is a powerful thing.

How did you find the path to your major as an undergraduate?

I always had my eye on law school, and after a few detours to find the right path to get there, I found
myself in the Poli Sci department. I quickly knew I had found my home. Plus, who doesn't adore
Ventress Hall?!
