    Heidi Bain earned her B.F.A. in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design in 2017. While at UM she interned at Walt Disney World, and then built a career at WDW where she currently serves as Product Designer.

Alum Spotlight

Heidi Bain began at Walt Disney World as a Graphic Design Intern, where she designed and revised cast-facing print and digital collateral such as visual branding, illustrations, marketing banners, presentations, posters, event graphics, and other materials. She managed projects from concept to completion. Her next position was Graphic Design Manager, where she lead the Food and Beverage Creative team with creative direction, branding and alignment of internal standards. She was able to oversee project and content management to "bring the F and B vision to life through graphic design, photo and video production." She was a Resort Operations Assistant with design, marketing, and communication strategy for Port Orleans Resort. Then, as Disney Traditions Facilitator at Disney University, she helped introduce new cast, crew, and imagineers to the traditions and culture of the company. Currently, she is a Product Designer with WDW.

What are some significant/favorite memories from your time at UM?

Being involved in the Department of Art and Art History and my senior thesis show. I got to know so many amazing creatives!

Please describe your career trajectory since graduation from UM.

After my graduation from UM, I became a Graphic Design intern at Walt Disney World and have been working here in different roles ever since. I'm currently a Product Designer on the Disney Photopass Technology team. We design digital products for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Cruise Line. Our team does everything from physical photo props to Disney exclusive AR filters, and what we call "magic shots" where a character will magically appear in your photo!

Everything we do is from a storytelling perspective, which is a lot of fun, and we are always looking for new innovative ways to tell an interactive story. 

What do you think is the value of studying art in today's world?

As an artist the the opportunity to learn and grow alongside fellow creatives is something I greatly value. I was always inspired by my professors and classmates and they helped shape the artist I am today - that collaboration is one of the biggest benefits I have taken into my career.
