What were some of your favorite memories at UM?

The University of Mississippi shaped me in so many ways, and I will be forever grateful for my undergraduate years there. Invaluable knowledge was gained both inside and outside of the classroom. From my experiences with Greek life to my two summers as an Orientation Leader, and from committee service to games at Vaught Hemingway, when I look back I am so thankful for the memories made in Oxford. My all-time favorite time there might have been the period around the 2008 Presidential Debate. What an incredibly exciting time to be an Ole Miss student!

What has been your career/educational path since you earned the undergraduate degree?

Since graduating from Ole Miss in 2009, I have benefited from a broad range of professional experiences. A large for-profit insurance company, both a public and private institution of higher education, and a state agency have all been my professional home prior to my current tenure as
Executive Director of the nonprofit Mississippi Main Street Association. Along the way, I have also had the opportunity to earn a M.S. in Higher Education Administration from Mississippi College and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. The entirety of this pathway, both professional and educational, is built upon the foundation developed during my undergraduate tenure at Ole Miss.

What is the value of your liberal arts degree for your career and life?

A liberal arts degree fosters the ability to approach situations as a critical analyst, as well as a strong verbal and written communicator. These traits, I have found, have equipped me to succeed in every professional role I have been in. While on-the-job training is almost always necessary, I strongly believe that a liberal arts degree provides the vital framework to drive long-term success in most professional fields.
