Meet Whitney

Whitney Drewrey holds a master's in special education from Arkansas State University and a Specialist degree in emotional and behavioral disorders from William Carey University. She is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. in special education program at the University of Mississippi. Whitney joined the Board of Advisors in Fall 2020.

What led you to want to serve on the School of Education Board of Advisors?

When I joined the BOA, I was employed in the public school setting so I was excited to give back to Ole Miss and have as much input in the education of our future teachers as possible.

Tell us about your proudest moment in education.

As teacher of the year, I was able to share the stories of my students with special needs and advocate for all student with disabilities across the United States.

Do you have any advice for our current students?

Build relationships with your students and their family. Learn their stories, their strengths, their fears, and their needs and use that information to shape them into hard-working and kind humans.
