Meet Alison Dropp
What is your major and why did you choose it?
I'm a Biology major and I chose this because I've always had such a fascination with the sciences related to the body and to nature. I have loved the science classes where I get to learn about the inner workings of the body, and I have loved the science classes where I get to learn all about the environment. When walking around campus, one can probably find me looking up at the trees!
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?
Pursuing a career in dentistry stemmed from several factors for me. I have always been fascinated with teeth, and when I was younger I would look forward to going to the dentist. I knew I wanted to be in the dental field after my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer, and the reason it was caught early on was because of our dentist. The best thing you can wear is a smile, and I look forward to helping people be happy about theirs.
How has HPAO helped you?
The better question would be "How hasn't HPAO helped me?". HPAO has been there for every step of my college career, from picking out classes to helping me decide my future, HPAO is always there.
What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?
Any and every chance to interact with the HPAO Staff! I love going to the HPAO office and chatting with everyone there, and I also have been a HPAO tutor which has been a great opportunity.
What are your career goals?
I hope and plan to pursue a career as a Dentist, and if possible, to specialize further as well, all with the goal of giving back to the community that has done so much for me.
What is your favorite meal in Oxford?
My favorite meal in Oxford is a Mac Attack burger from Oxford Burger Company, I like to go there with my friends, get our meals to go, and go eat at Lamar Park.
What are you the happiest doing when you are not studying?
If I'm not studying, I'm definitely reading a book. I love love love to read!
Where is your favorite study spot?
My favorite study spot is at any picnic table in the Grove!
