Abbey Barnard

Abbey is a junior PPL major with a minor in public health. She currently serves as a Lott Institute Ambassador. In addition to the time she devotes to the Lott Institute, she is also the Co-President of Letters of Love, the Secretary of the Ole Miss Knitting Club, and a member of Ole Miss Panhellenic.

How did you choose your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?

I chose the PPL major because the Lott program stood out to me for its community and the opportunities to get involved and grow as a leader. As a transfer student, I also wanted a way to become more connected on campus and meet people who were motivated and involved. I liked that it was more discussion-based and focused on leadership, communication, and real-world issues. Overall, it just felt like a program that matched my interests and the kind of person I want to become.

What are your career aspirations?

I hope to attend law school and pursue a career in public service. I’m interested in leadership, communication, and working on issues that impact people’s everyday lives. I have also considered one day running for public office, possibly even serving as a senator.
