Why did you choose to attend UM?
I decided to enroll at UM because of its reliable academic programs, helpful tools like FASTrack, and campus community. I wanted a school that would support my transition as a first-generation college student, and UM has done just that by offering peer connections, study assistance, and mentorship.
What can you tell a high school student about your FASTrack experience?
I’d tell a high school student that FASTrack made my transition to college so much easier. It gave me smaller classes, helpful professors, and a built-in support system. The program connected me with peer mentors, study resources, and friends, which helped me feel more confident and prepared. If you're nervous about starting college, FASTrack is a great way to get the support you need while building a strong foundation for success.
What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you'd tell your past self?
I would tell me past self that someone is proud of you, and you’re not alone. It’s easy to feel like you have to do everything on your own, but there are people whether its family, friends, mentors but they do believe in you and want to see you succeed. So don’t be afraid to lean on them for support.
