Meet Anna Grace
What does this scholarship award mean to you?
This scholarship means that I will be able to continue my education with my full focus on my academics and field experience. I will be able to fully devote my time to my research interests and honing my classroom skills without the stress of finding a secondary job.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?
As an undergraduate, I chose UM because of the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) program. Now as a master's student, I decided to stay at UM because of the incredible faculty and staff at the School of Education who I have learned so much from.
Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:
Dr. Rosemary Oliphant Ingham is perhaps one of my all time favorite people let alone professor. She shows all of her students that every student has the potential for growth, how to be unapologetically ourselves, and how to care deeply for one another. All of her students know that she cares for them not just through her words but her actions. Whether she is gifting us books or sitting for a chat, Dr. OI has dedicated her life to making the world a better place, and I feel lucky to have felt her impact personally.
Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:
I work as a graduate assistant in the School of Engineering which I enjoy and spend most of my time. Outside of work, I enjoy redecorating my apartment, personal wellness, and general crafting. I have recently picked up needlepointing and needlepoint canvas painting!
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan on teaching in the Oxford area in a middle school or high school.
