Meet Anna Katherine

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

My decision to attend the University of Mississippi was driven by my love for Oxford's welcoming, small-town atmosphere, which mirrored my upbringing in Natchez, Mississippi. From my first visit, I felt a strong connection to the community. With many family members also having attended UM, it felt like the perfect place to continue a cherished tradition. Through the School of Education, I’ve been able to form countless meaningful connections, further solidifying my choice as the right one for both my academic and personal growth.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

My decision to pursue a degree at the School of Education stemmed from my deep passion for helping young children succeed. I’ve always been driven by the desire to make a positive impact on their lives, especially those facing unique challenges. This passion led me to specialize in Special Education, where I strive to create an inclusive and loving classroom environment. My goal is to empathize with my students, understand their individual needs, and provide unwavering support, ensuring that every child feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), specializing in behavior management within a school setting. My goal is to work with young children, helping to create positive and supportive learning environments where every student can thrive. I am passionate about making a meaningful impact on children's lives by addressing their unique behavioral needs and fostering a classroom atmosphere that is inclusive, encouraging, and conducive to their overall development.
