  • About

My Name is Avalyn Whitten and I am originally from Calvert County, Maryland but I just moved to Memphis, Tennessee! I am an elementary education major.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

My family is originally from Memphis and personally I could not travel too far from home. This campus also has the best feeling and an amazing community.

Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:

I volunteer with my church back home but have yet to find some ways to get involved here on campus yet, but I am ready to join more clubs and communities!

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

I have always adored children and I wanted to choose a job that made a positive impact on my community. I have always had a great amount of respect for my teachers, so I chose to spend future giving back to my community and its young students.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

I plan to put my degree to use and teach where I feel best fits me.
