Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

I chose the University of Mississippi because I formed the best relationships immediately upon arrival. I was able to connect with everyone I met, beginning with the campus tour. Not only is the campus gorgeous, but it's comforting knowing how safe I am here. The school offers so many different opportunities for everyone and has so much for students to get involved in. It truly is such a wonderful place to be!

What would you tell a high school student about your major? What is most important for them to know if they are interested in pursuing that field of study?

I would tell a prospective student that my major, though very demanding, is all kinds of fun! I would emphasize how my schedule is pretty customizable. I spend lots of time with my best friends taking classes that are teaching me valuable skills and helping me toward my future career. The professors in the Theatre and Film department make sure you get to learn about every single thing in the industry and allow you to experience so many different things. The opportunities are endless!

Why is your department a special place?

My department is a special place because of the relationships. Having such a small department allowed for deeper connection because there are only so many people in your classes. I absolutely love this tight-knit environment because you find people you can trust very quickly. We are all able to support one another and help each other grow as performers. Not only do we see each other in class, but we all get together on our own and discover shared interests besides just our major.

What professor or class has had the most impact on you?

One professor that has had the most impact on me has been Lauren Bone Noble. Between taking two of her classes, understudying in a show she directed, and having her as my advisor, I've truly gotten to know her as a professor. She has taught me not only how to work as an actor, but valuable life lessons as well. She creates a comfortable and exciting environment for all students and I look forward to her class every day!

What do you hope to do after graduation? What are your career goals/plans?

I hope to spend time after graduation working as an actor and performing. I would love to be a director or a choreographer in the future and work with kids and teens who have the same passion I grew up with. I absolutely love being on stage, but I love helping other people live out their dreams even more!

What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you’d tell your past self (about the general college experience)?

Coming into college, I wish I knew more about the opportunities I'd have. Not only for theatre, but on campus, in my sorority, and in the city. I was expecting a basic college experience with only classes and occasional outings with my friends. I have since learned that there is always an opportunity waiting for you, whether it's an audition, an activity, a friend wanting to hang out, or a job in the square. I would tell my past self not to let any opportunities pass you and take advantage of each one!
