When and how did you choose your major(s)/minor(s)?
I have always wanted to be a teacher and music education allows me to continue my musical training.
What would you tell a high school student about your major?
You are given so many opportunities to perform and connect with other musicians. You also get to work with some of the best-of-the best.
Why is your department a special place?
The music department is special because of all of the relationships you will form with other music majors, and your studio instructor and directors. Everyone wants to see you succeed.
Can you tell me about a professor or a class you've taken that has had the most impact on you?
Nancy Maria Balach has had a huge impact on my journey at Ole Miss. She is my lifetime mentor through the OMWC and I work directly with her through the Living Music Resource. The opportunities she has given me have allowed me to connect with industry professionals and really launch my career before finishing my undergraduate degree.
What do you hope to do after you graduate?
Postgrad I would like to get a Masters Degree in Choral/Symphonic Conducting. Then have a career as a Music Director/Choral Director.
What are you binge watching or reading right now?
I am watching The West Wing and reading The Wager by David Grann.
What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you'd tell your past self?
Find your place to get connected and involved. There are so many amazing organizations on campus. If you don't find your niche immediately, you will.
