Meet Braedan Watters

What is your major and why did you choose it?

I knew I wanted to be a Biology major finishing high school because I knew I wanted to specialize my education in a field that allows me to learn about the in-depth mechanics that control different physical characteristics to better educate others around me. My passion for teaching the importance of health and fitness to others as well as educating myself was a large reason for my interest in this field.

Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?

My interest in pursuing medicine initially came with shadowing doctors after high school but after hearing more about the field and learning about the chance to provide valuable research to my future profession and educating others outside of clinical practice I was sold! I love the idea of having profound insight into the human body as well!

How has HPAO helped you?

HPAO has helped give me a direction to apply what I am studying to different aspects of life. Whether this is through clinical experience, counseling for academics, or providing intel on opportunities to serve the community, this office has been incredibly rewarding for me.

What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?

My most memorable experience working with HPAO has been bonding with all of the advisors through working the ambassador events! I have created great relationships with many of our advisors and love the great energy they bring!

What are your career goals?

My career goals are to attend medical school, pursue a specialization in ophthalmology or internal medicine, and help fortify the community of Jackson by building personal relationships with patients. I have been inspired by various doctors in the Jackson Metro Area who are so proficient at their craft and caring toward their patients, and I would love to follow in these footsteps.

What is your favorite meal in Oxford?

My favorite meal in Oxford is First Watch. Their pancakes and breakfast tacos are to die for!

What are you the happiest doing when you are not studying?

I am happiest training mixed martial arts and powerlifting away from studying! I also love spending time with my friends having fun and competing!

Where is your favorite study spot?

My favorite study spot is the Dungeon of the Honors College in the early morning hours.
