Get to Know Brianna

What research have you been working on lately?

I am currently working on my dissertation, which examines how the presentation of either individual or structural criminology theories influences voting preferences. I am also investigating whether highlighting racial identity impacts these preferences. I am so excited about this study because it allows me to combine all my research interests into one project! I will also use a quasi-experimental approach, which provides a good challenge.

What is your favorite thing about being a graduate student in the department?

The department is constantly evolving to meet student needs and demands. I believe we can tailor our graduate school experience to meet our individual aspirations.

What is your favorite thing about living in Oxford?

I love the food! When family or friends visit, I always make sure to include at least three restaurants in their itinerary. Saint Leo is the best!

What is your favorite course you have taken so far?

Conditioning and learning with Dr. Kate Kellum. Although the course was challenging, I also enjoyed learning about the philosophical aspects of behavioral interventions and the didactics incorporated into them.

What do you do when you are not studying?

I love watching TV, playing video games, cooking, and baking!

What is a really interesting or really boring fact about yourself?

I auditioned for the X-factor when I was 14.
