Meet Brianna Rellinger

What is your major and why did you choose it?

My major is Allied Health Studies and I chose it because I believed it would help pave the way for me when I apply to nursing school. Allied Health Studies has allowed me to take core classes that are imperative for nursing school while also taking a few that suit me and my other hobbies, such as art and public health.

Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?

I chose to pursue nursing because of my passion for helping other people and health in general. Not only am I fascinated with health and the human body, but also desire to ensure the well-being of those around me. By becoming a nurse, I know I will be able to carry out both of my passions. My mom wanted to be a nurse and inspired me to never give up on my studies, even when it becomes difficult. She has always described to me that helping others is way more fulfilling than helping yourself. Therefore, I feel that I can support my future patients by caring for them and loving them through difficult times. These moments will be forever fulfilling to me and I hope I can be a light for my patients to witness.

How has HPAO helped you?

Coming from out of state, I was unfamiliar with health professions at Ole Miss but having advisors like Dr. Bilbo and Neal Ann have helped me in so many ways. Not only have they helped me choose the best classes for my schedule, but they have been companions for me in times of stress or uncertainty. I’m so thankful and excited for what HPAO has done and what they're going to do!

What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?

My most memorable experiences have been every meeting I’ve had with HPAO! Every time I visit, I remember how much the advisors love and care for each student who walks through the doors.

What are your career goals?

One day, I hope to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse and work back home in Atlanta, GA. I believe that by becoming a nurse, I will be able to care for women and their families as they experience one of the most incredible times in their lives.

What is your favorite meal in Oxford?

My favorite meal would have to be a steak with a baked potato from Oxford Grillehouse!

What are you the happiest doing when you are not studying?

I am happiest when I am hanging out with my friends, going to church on Wednesday nights, or driving around while listening to music!

Where is your favorite study spot?

The lobby of The Graduate Hotel!
