Get to Know Caiden Craddock

Why did you choose to attend UM?

It was close to my family!

When and how did you choose your major(s)/minor(s)?

I settled on theatre in high school when I realized I could make a career out of my passion! After having taken a few English classes independently my sophomore year, I wanted to pursue the subject further as a minor!

What would you tell a high school student about your major?

Prepare for the hardest but most satisfying work of your life!

Why is your department a special place?

Everyone is so welcoming, and because we all take classes in the same building, and there isn't a crazy amount of us like there are in other majors, we all get to know each other super well! You make 50 friends on your first day!

Can you tell me about a professor or a class you’ve taken that has had the most impact on you?

I took a costumes class last semester, and I got the opportunity to have one-on-one time with a mentor for the first time since I had entered college. She is such a wonderful professor and advisor, and I learned so much about myself, what I wanted in life, and how to hone my craft under her tutelage.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

After I graduate with my degree in Theatre, I plan to stay another year and get my major in English!

Apart from school, how do you spend your time in Oxford?

I'm typically a homebody, so I'm a lot better at crocheting and crafting than beer pong, but I definitely make my way to the Library from time to time! A fun night out with friends is the BEST medicine for burnout!
