Why did you choose PPL as your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?

I have been interested in policy, legislation, and leadership since I was little. I learned about the Lott Institute when I was first starting to look at colleges. I feel in love with it and it sealed the deal on my coming to Ole Miss. I love that the Lott Institute combines knowledge through teaching with knowledge through doing- ex. the Mock Congressional Hearing, internships, in class debates & discussions, and more!

What are your career aspirations?

I am interested in pursuing a job as a policy expert, government consultant, or something within the state department.

Is there a professor that has been particularly helpful to you?

I have only had two PPL professors, and have loved them both. I would highly recommend Dr. Fritz, though. He has a very engaging teaching style, and a good sense of humor.

What is a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community either on or off campus?

I really enjoyed my experience as a delegate at Mississippi Girls State, and had the privilege of returning as part of their government staff this last summer! Girls State is an organization run by the American Legion Auxiliary that teaches girls who are rising seniors in high-school about government, legislation, and civic duty- and provides them with life long friends in the process! I hope to attend girls state in a staff capacity again in the future!
