Meet Caitlin

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

These scholarships will help me continue my education here at Ole Miss. Before I received these scholarships, I wanted to give up. Luckily, both of these scholarships came at the right time and were looked at as a sign to keep going.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

I have been attending summer camps and pre-college programs here at Ole Miss since I was in 8th grade. While attending, I always felt welcomed, and the campus gives me an aura that feels like home.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

When I was 6 years old, I taught myself how to multiply and divide. By age 8, I would pretend to teach a class. I always wanted to become a teacher. Math is something that I love because there are so many ways to come to a solution. Math is like education; students constantly learn new solutions to problems encountered. This inspired me to build trust with different students through the numbers we discussed in the classroom.
