What does this scholarship award mean to you?
Receiving this scholarship is very meaningful to me because it provides crucial financial support and validates my commitment to my academic and professional goals. It has alleviated financial burdens, allowing me to concentrate fully on my studies. This award is especially to me because I share a connection through our sorority with my donor!
Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?
I chose to attend the University of Mississippi because I wanted my college experience to be new and different compared to my life in California. I also wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone to get the most out of my College experience.
Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:
My favorite professor is Dr. Kristi Livingston! This is because she showed me tough love during my senior practicum and it helped me to grow and learn during that year. She truly made me a better teacher and person because of it.
What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?
I have not always had a positive experience in school. Throughout my life, I was consistently labeled the "bad kid". Until I had one teacher in high school who changed my life or the better and I want the opportunity to do that for someone else.
Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:
My friends typically tell me I have "old lady" hobbies because in my spare time, I enjoy going for long walks, reading, and baking. But another hobby and passion of mine is dog training.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on teaching a lower elementary grade and making a difference in my student's lives.
