Why did you choose PPL as your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?

I had the opportunity to participate in the Lott pre-college programs and absolutely fell in love with that Institute. I love policy and know that I want to work in the political sector eventually, so the Lott program provides the perfect opportunity for me! I loved the community of the Lott pre-college programs, and I have found that same community now that I'm a PPL major. I love that I will have a close knit cohort for the next few years while learning more about what I'm passionate about!

What are your career aspirations?

After graduating, I plan to attend law school. While I'm not sure where I'll end up, I hope to one day work in shaping public policy. I'm especially interested in lobbying or working in the legislative process. I look forward to discovering new passions through PPL and finding what aspect of my interests is best suited to me!

Is there a professor that has been particularly helpful to you?

Professor Bass has been incredibly helpful! Not only was she my professor for 101, but she has been beyond amazing as an advisor. When I needed help getting credits transferred and declaring my minors, Dr. Bass was there to walk me through the processes.

What is a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community either on or off campus?

I had the opportunity to work in my local congressional office! When I asked Dr. Jones about internship opportunities, she helped me get in contact with Congressman Mike Ezell's office. I loved having the chance to learn more about the connection between constituents and officials on the local level.
