  • About

I am a UM School of Education senior from Mantachie, MS! I love the school of Education and have learned so much that I can not wait to use during my student teaching experience this year, as well as in my future classroom!

Meet Emory

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

Every time I visited the University before deciding on my attendance, I noticed such a sense of community, specifically around Guyton Hall! I always saw people sitting around the building and talking, walking together, and working in groups, and I knew I wanted to be around that strong sense of friendship!

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

I have always heard fantastic things about UM's School of Education, from the structure of the programs and the strong bonds formed among teaching candidates to the preparation for mandatory teaching assessments needed to obtain licensure. I also loved how thoroughly engrained Special Education focused courses are within the Elementary Education pathway. I think it is so important that all future teachers are educated on the best ways to work with a wide range of students, and looking at UM's course offerings exemplified this.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

I plan to live in Tupelo, MS and teach in the North MS area! I want to focus on being a light to my future students, their families, and my community and work towards making my classroom warm and welcoming to anyone who walks in the door!
