Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?
I’m from southeast Missouri, and I actually chose Ole Miss kind of on a whim at first. I didn’t know much about it, but once I got here, I completely fell in love with the school. The campus is beautiful, the people are incredibly friendly, and the College of Liberal Arts gives you so much freedom to explore different classes and figure out what you really want to do. I’ve loved being able to take interesting courses while meeting some of my best friends from all over the country. Ole Miss just has this special energy that makes you feel at home, and I’m really glad I took the chance and came here.

What would you tell a high school student about your major? What is most important for them to know if they are interested in pursuing that field of study?
Hey, I’m majoring in Political Science, and I am really enjoying it. You learn how politics and power work, how to think critically, and how to make strong arguments, which are all things that are really helpful if you’re thinking about law school or just want to understand what’s going on in the world. The best part is how flexible it is. If you like debating ideas or keeping up with current events, you’ll probably enjoy it a lot.

The Political Science department here is really special because the professors actually know your name and care about helping you succeed. The classes are interesting, and you get to talk about real-world issues instead of just reading textbooks. It’s also super flexible, so you can explore other interests while still getting a strong foundation. Overall, it just feels like a welcoming place where you can grow and figure out your future.

What professor or class has had the most impact on you?
One professor who’s had the biggest impact on me is Professor Ferry in POL 103, International Relations. She is so friendly and helpful, and you can tell she really cares about her students. Her class made international relations way more interesting than I expected, and she’s always willing to talk with you and answer questions. She’s made me even more excited about political science.

I plan to attend law school at Ole Miss and then pursue a career in law or public policy.
