Meet Frederick Johnson Jr.
What is your major and why did you choose it?
I am majoring in Biology with minors in Spanish and chemistry. I chose Biology because I love science and felt that this major would increase my love for science and best prepare me for the MCAT and medical school. I chose a minor in Spanish because I have always loved the Spanish culture and by the end of undergraduate, I want to be fluent in Spanish.
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?
I chose to pursue pre-medicine because I have known since sixth grade I wanted to be a doctor. I have always had a passion for caring for others around me in every way possible so this profession is the only one that will best prepare me for medical school.
How has HPAO helped you?
HPOA has helped me in many ways, from having someone to talk to about my semester to recommendation letters and scheduling classes. Health professions advising has been instrumental in guiding my journey towards a healthcare career. I've gained insight into academic requirements, volunteer opportunities, and professional development through personalized guidance and resources. Their expertise has empowered me to make informed decisions and take meaningful steps towards my goals. Overall, health professions advising has been a cornerstone in my pursuit of a fulfilling and impactful career in the field of healthcare.
What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?
My most memorable experience working with HPOA was my first time in Dr. Casey Stuart's office and realizing that we connected because she lived in my hometown for a little while. We talked for almost 2 hours about everything.
What are your career goals?
My career goals are to become either a General or Pediatric/Orthopedic Surgeon.
What is your favorite meal in Oxford?
Handy Andy's burger and fries.
What are you the happiest doing when you are not studying?
Playing pickleball.
Where is your favorite study spot?
My favorite study spot is the Honors College.
