I am the first one in my family to go to college! Six years after getting my bachelor's I decided it was time to go back and complete my masters.

Meet Gaby

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

Getting this scholarship is a huge help! I am married and have one kid. My husband and I both work; therefore, many days we do not see our baby as much as we would like. This scholarship will give us some financial relief and we will not worry about working extra to pay for this semester's tuition. And thanks to that, we will be able to spend more time with our son.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

One of the main reasons was because of the financial opportunities the college provides for minority students. Another reason was the hybrid program. That made it so much more convenient and accessible for me.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

I already had a Bachelor's in Education so I wanted to build upon my knowledge. For years I had wanted to do something related to behavior, but I could never find exactly what I was looking for. Until last year I looked up the options offered at the University of Mississippi and saw the Applied Behavior Analysis program! Being able to finally apply for financial aid and seeing this program was an obvious sign to get back in school!
