Haile Cambliss portrait.

Why did you choose to attend UM?

I chose to attend Ole Miss due to the wonderful impression that it gave me the first time I looked into it and it definitely lived up to it! Not only is Ole Miss a wonderful academic school, but it is also a second home to most students who come here. It has a wonderful atmosphere that makes everyone here feel like family. I am so grateful that I chose Ole Miss and I will be doing graduate school here as well.

When and why did you choose your major/minor?

I chose to major in Public Health due to it being such a broad field. There are many different parts of healthcare you can go into when you have a public health degree. It prepares you for careers such as medicine, nursing, research, epidemiology, health specialist, health education, and even more. This led me to choose this major because I will never be tied to only one career.

What are your career goals?

I plan to become a physician and work in a public health facility while also doing public health advocacy.

Is there a professor who has been particularly helpful to you?

Dr. Zigmont

What has been a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community? (Either on or off campus?

I volunteered at the Jackson Free Clinic in Jackson, MS which is a non profit student ran clinic for homeless people and people without insurance. Volunteering there truly touched my heart and confirmed my passion for healthcare.

What do you like to do outside of school (hobbies/interests)?

I love to make canvases, hang out with friends and family, shop, and try to get better with exercising.

What are you binge watching/reading/listening to?

All American.

What is your favorite place to eat in Oxford?

Oxford Grillehouse

What are some dream travel destinations (and why?)

New York because I love how they look for Christmas and New Years, and anywhere out of the country because I want to see life outside of the US.

What’s your favorite place teo study on or off campus and why?

The library because it’s peaceful.

Why is your department a special place?

My department is very special because everyone tries their best to help you in anyway possible.

What are your 3 favorite things about your major/department at UM?

The faculty and staff because of how helpful they are, I love my major because of how broad and interesting it is, and I also love the many opportunities that come with my department and major.
