Meet Hailey

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

Receiving these scholarships means the world to me. My father passed away two weeks into my freshman year, which left a huge financial burden on my family. These scholarships will help to relieve these burdens, especially since my mom is putting my sister and me through college right now, both out of state.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

I chose to attend Ole Miss due to the strong education program. Unlike other places I applied, Ole Miss allows me to be certified in a wide range of grades and content areas.

Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:

My favorite memory was my first education course, EDWP 340, with Dr. Laura Prior. She made this course so fun and really excited me for my journey within the School of Education.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

Growing up, I was always surrounded by kids and always wanted to be a teacher. I interned at the elementary and middle school levels during high school which solidified that I wanted to be a teacher.

Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:

I volunteer with the Oxford Park Commission to coach and referee youth volleyball.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to move closer to home and pursue a graduate degree.
