Meet Janiya Seals
What is your major and why did you choose it?
I chose Allied Health Studies as my major because it provides a strong foundation in various healthcare disciplines. This knowledge is crucial for understanding the human body and preparing for the rigorous PA program. In addition, I have been able to explore different areas of healthcare, which has further confirmed my desire to become a physician assistant.
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?
I decided to pursue PA because it offers a wide range of opportunities to directly impact patient care. It is a rewarding profession that allows you to make a difference in people’s lives while working in a collaborative healthcare team.
How has HPAO helped you?
The Health Profession Advising Office has provided guidance and support since day one. They have offered valuable resources, helped me choose the right courses, and started preparing me for the application process. Overall, they’re like personal cheerleaders, guiding me to achieve my goals in the healthcare field.
What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?
My most memorable experience was going into Neal Ann's office stressed about which courses I should take and she quickly tamed my anxiety and mapped out my science courses for the next three years. I remember feeling relieved and heard when I left her office.
What are your career goals?
As a physician assistant, I plan to provide high-quality patient care and make a positive impact on the health and well-being of individuals and communities. I will advocate for health equity and address healthcare disparities to promote inclusivity in healthcare practices. By working towards these goals, I hope I can contribute to creating a more accessible healthcare system for all individuals.
