    Jordan Freeman is a native of Greenwood, MS and a 2019 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU). His student involvement experiences at MVSU ultimately led him to pursue a career in higher education and earn his M.A. in Higher Education. He currently serves as the Associate Director in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at UM.

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

This scholarship award means that I'm able to continue pursuing my education with less financial stress along the way. Life is already full of several challenges outside of the classroom, so this scholarship just makes things a bit easier to navigate.

Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:

Dr. George McClellan has been my favorite professor at the School of Education. He always presents the course information in a manner that is appealing to my style of learning. There's a fine balance of teacher explanations, student interactions, and activities that make it work well. Also, his thorough knowledge of higher education helps to challenge many of the preconceived notions students have entering his classroom.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

The University of Mississippi's School of Education has been extremely beneficial for my personal and professional growth. I have The staff are knowledgeable in their respective content areas and they do an excellent job of challenging their students in a healthy way. As I go through my professional career, I am continuously applying the knowledge I gained in my daily work.
