Why did you choose to attend UM?

I chose to attend UM because of it's amazing study abroad/Chinese Flagship Program.

When and how did you choose your major(s)/minor(s)?

I arrived on campus knowing that I wanted to minor in Chinese and be involved with theatre in whatever ways I could, however, I didn't figure out that I was interested in Southern Studies til the middle of my Sophomore year!

What would you tell a high school student about your major?

The most important thing to know is that you’ll be learning a lot of new things that may be surprising. Stick with it, and you will be glad you did!

Why is your department a special place?

My department is a special place because there are so many teachers I know are willing to help whenever I need it.

Can you tell me about a professor or a class you’ve taken that has had the most impact on you?

My professor from one of my Chinese classes greatly impacted me. She helped me out countless times outside of class and was also able to connect with me about topics that I found interesting. She is very trustworthy and has even given me some great life advice.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

I don't have a specific plan at the moment, but I will bring a unique blend of cultural understanding and language proficiency to my interactions in whatever I decide to pursue.

Apart from school, how do you spend your time in Oxford?

I spend my time at the Grove on gameday weekends and hanging out with friends at Yaya's. I hold leadership positions in a few different clubs on campus such as the President of Alpha Psi Omega furthering my involvement in the theatre department as well as being the Public Relations Chair of Mock Trial. In addition to these on-campus clubs, I also enjoy playing the guitar, building with Lego, and watching just about any movie or tv show.
