Meet Kimberly Vazquez
What is your major and why did you choose it?
My major is biochemistry, which I chose because I love science. This field allows me to dive into both biology and chemistry, combining my interests. Through this major, I've taken a variety of classes that give me a solid understanding of how life works at a molecular level, preparing me for my future career.
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession?
I chose to pursue a career in healthcare because I genuinely enjoy helping others. My decision was deeply influenced by my family and my experiences with patients. Witnessing the positive impact of healthcare workers on my mom and grandfather inspired me, and my role in translating for others growing up reinforced my desire to continue in this field. I am committed to making a meaningful difference in people's lives.
How has HPAO helped you?
HPAO has been incredibly helpful to me. They've ensured I'm on track for professional school with mock interviews, resume-building courses, and free tutoring. Additionally, they've provided numerous opportunities for shadowing, volunteering, and gaining clinical experience hours.
What is your most memorable experience working with HPAO?
My most memorable experience with HPAO was working the visit day events. These events gave me the chance to talk with prospective students about how much HPAO has helped me, and I know it can do the same for them.
