Get to know Michael Guden
Why did you choose PPL as your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?
During my teenage years, I became increasingly politically aware and chose to follow political processes more closely. As a result, I was able to appreciate complex American politics at a high level and this became a deep interest of mine. Public Policy Leadership and the Lott program stood out to me while I was considering Ole Miss, because of the uniqueness of the program and the exceptional opportunities I knew were available. The Lott Institute was one of main reasons why I chose to attend Ole Miss.
What are your career aspirations?
I aspire to attend law school and become a practicing attorney. I also want to become a published author. During my career as an attorney, I hope to be on the forefront of legal decisions surrounding the use of AI in the United States.
Is there a professor that has been particularly helpful to you?
I've thoroughly enjoyed taking PPL 212 with Dr. Vereb. His class is very engaging and straight to the point. It is also beneficial in terms of the development of speaking, presenting, and writing skills, all of which are necessary attributes of a successful student in the Lott Leadership Institute.
What is a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community either on or off campus?
I have served senior citizens at the Page Robbins Adult Day Center in my hometown of Collierville, TN. I've volunteered at my local library in Collierville. I've also volunteered at Ronald McDonald House in Memphis.
