Meet Nikki

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

This scholarship is an honor to receive. I am very appreciative of this opportunity to pursue this degree while working full-time in a self-contained high school special education classroom. This allows me to continue without having to take out more student loans. Thank you very much.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

I have always believed in the University of Mississippi and their education programs. I have received two degrees from here and am happy to pursue a third. Thank you for the opportunity and programs available to working people.

Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:

My favorite professor has been Dr. Dennis Bunch. He taught one of my Master's level courses. He was truthful and had many real life experiences to relate to the lessons we learned in class. He was always cheerful and easy to get in touch with if we ever had questions outside of class time.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

I have always wanted to impact the lives of others in a positive way. Education has helped me do that. Special education has helped me help those who cannot help themselves.

Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:

I am a member of Christ Community Church in Grenada, MS, where I sing on the praise and worship team.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to continue teaching special education students and use what I have learned to help all students I teach have a better life.
