What are you most excited — and maybe most nervous — about as you start college?
I think I was most nervous about the transition from high school to college. I often heard how different the level of compassion and care can be in college versus high school, but I can confidently say that I haven’t gone a day on campus without receiving or being offered help when needed.
I’m most excited to really dive into my passion for law and advocacy. Before college I wasn't sure exactly what direction I wanted to go career wise but when it came down to it, I knew I wanted to be a voice for others.

You’re from Batesville, so Ole Miss isn’t very far from home. What made it feel like the right place for your next chapter rather than simply the college close to home?
I didn’t want to go to school right within my hometown, and thankfully Ole Miss gave me that bit of distance while still being close if I ever needed anything.
What drew me to campus was the beauty of it all, along with all the great opportunities here. Plus, my whole family attended Ole Miss, and my mom even works on campus now!

You mentioned the traditions and beauty of campus, but also said being at Ole Miss felt like seeing your future in front of you. Was there a particular visit or moment when you had that feeling? What do you remember about it?
I think at my campus visit or even Orientation, is when I really felt this. While going across campus on a tour and during Orientation, I remember being surrounded by information — in a good way!
Everywhere I looked, there was an opportunity to learn something new. It made me feel like I would never be alone here and that there’s truly a way to grow at every corner.

You wrote about wanting to study law and eventually become an attorney who helps people who don’t always feel like they have a voice. Where did that goal come from?
I think it comes from a couple things — my love of leadership and my own personal experiences. In high school, I really enjoyed being involved in my school and community.
I ran for pretty much every leadership position I could! But my passion really comes from my own personal experiences. Often, people go through things that you may not know or hear about, and I want to be the voice for those people.

You’ve received recognition for leadership, citizenship and school spirit. Which recognition are you proudest of — not necessarily because it sounds the most impressive, but because of what it represents to you?
Winning Miss South Panola was a big honor. This award is something that is voted on by the whole school district — from kindergarten to school faculty and staff. So, to see my school district honor me in that way, to me, meant I have been doing something right and have represented my community well.

Fast-forward four years: What would have to happen for you to look back on your Ole Miss experience and think, “I made the most of it”?
I am so excited to be at Ole Miss, and I am ready to tackle every opportunity that comes my way!
I think what would make me say “I made the most of it”, would be achieving all that I hope to achieve, staying involved, and growing my community all while staying strong in my academics.
