Why did you choose Ole Miss?

When looking at colleges I had 3 requirement 1. Is the campus safe? 2. Is the campus clean? and 3. What do your labs look like? I came on a tour very last minute, but when arriving to the square it reminded me of Fair Hope Alabama, but with an SEC college. I went on an all day tour, meeting deans, teachers, students and truly getting an idea of what an Ole Miss student was. In all honesty I had 2 days before the college decision shut off and my parents were like you need to choose a school and in that moment I blurted out Ole Miss. I will say my parents were in shock as they both went to LSU, so they needed a moment to adjust, but starting my freshman year they knew this was my home and I would never want to go anywhere else.

Why did you choose General Business as your major?

I was originally BME on pre-med, I was going through a "mid life crisis" and knew I needed to change. I went to the business advisors and told them what was happening and they helped me figure out where my classes would transfer to and which degrees would work best with all the hours I had accumulated. General Business ended up being my choice and with this degree I have still been able to do my Occupational therapy pre requisites without having to stay an extra semester.

What faculty or staff member has made a significant impact on your college experience and why?

Two teachers that have made a significant impact on my college experience was Dr. Welch and Professor Gordon. Dr. Welch was there for me in a very difficult time as I took her class the following semester after my father suddenly passed. I had an hour gap between her class and another class where we began to hang out and just talk about life and what was going on in the world. She truly helped me in a difficult time where I didn't know what I wanted to do and helped me cope with what was going on in my life. She truly was a teacher that made an impact on my life for the better and I am forever great full for her. She made sure that all of her lessons were engaging, and interactive and really taught us how to be successful in the future. As for Professor Gordon, I am currently taking his marketing 455 class and I absolutely love it. While his class is a lot of work as we do a lot of projects, it has truly brought me out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to work with the most amazing group of people. In his class I feel like I am not a number but a person, I am able to just talk and listen to other students. While he is just a few years older than us, he never makes you feel like he is entitled and always is there to answer your questions. He has shown me what I great teacher is and how a great teacher will make you want to go to class even when you may not want to. He has shown me how life changes and you just have to go with the flow, but be prepared to do the work. In the real world things aren't going to be handed to you, you need to put in the work in and be prepared to hear corrections.
