Meet Ryleigh
Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?
I chose to attend Ole Miss because I fell in love with the campus when I first stepped foot on it. Additionally my great grandfather was an Ole Miss fan, and being a student here makes me feel closer to him. To me Ole Miss is truly family and a place that I feel at home.
Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:
My favorite course was Writing 340 with Dr. Ellen Shelton. I learned quite a bit from Dr. Shelton about teaching high school English. I have also met some incredible friends because of this class. Additionally this class has led to Dr. Shelton becoming my teaching mentor and she has helped me immensely.
Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:
My main hobby is reading, but I have also begun baking, cooking, and painting. My favorite thing to bake is cinnamon rolls, because you have to put a ton of care into them and have a lot of patience with them. Additionally painting as a hobby has taught me to slow down and look at the bigger picture.
