Get to know Samuel Nemee

Why did you choose PPL as your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?

Samuel chose PPL for his major because he felt drawn to its interdisciplinary approach covering some of his favorite study subjects such as politics, philosophy, ethics, history, and public-speaking. As someone preparing to apply to law schools in the near future he felt this was the perfect major for his academic development in law-related topics of study. The small knit-community, discussion based classes, network, and opportunities were all key factors in Samuel’s decision to join the Lott program.

What are your career aspirations?

Samuel aspires to attend law school following graduation and hopes to become a lawyer one day with a specialization in Sports and Contract law.

Is there a professor that has been particularly helpful to you?

Professor Bass has been immensely helpful in Samuel’s journey so far here at the Lott institute. She was not only his first teacher for PPL 101 who helped him get acclimated to the institution, but also serves as his academic advisor guiding him through his academic endeavors. .

What is a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community either on or off campus?

While Samuel comes all the way from California, he has taken a particular interest in fighting food insecurity here in our Oxford community through volunteering at the Oxford food pantry once a week. Samuel also recently became a member of the IFC Food Subcommittee where he will help fight food insecurity on campus by delivering leftover fraternity food to various grove grocery pantries on campus throughout the school year.
